sport.Fr/Tennis. The president of the French Tennis Federation, Gilles Moretton, has confirmed that tennis players from Russia and Belarus will be able to play at the Rolland Garros tournament.

Earlier, Wimbledon tournament organizers announced that Russian and Belarusian athletes could not compete. There were reports that, unlike their British counterparts, the French Tennis Federation would not ban tennis players from Russia and Belarus from participating in Roland Garros.

“We comply with the declaration of March 9, 2022, adopted by the ministries of sport of the countries of the European Union and other signatory countries, according to which Russian and Belarusian athletes can only compete in neutral status. No flag, no anthem,” Moretton is quoted by Inside the Games in reference to L’Equipe.

Roland Garros will be held from May 22 to June 5, 2022.
