Medvedev called Serena Williams the strongest woman in world tennis

Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev called an american Serena Williams the strongest woman in world tennis.

– I first picked up a racquet when I was six, but I can’t remember when I started watching tennis on TV. Probably six months or a year later. And they showed all these tournaments, the Grand Slams – the biggest competitions in the world. Serena was already there then. I don’t know if it was then the first racket in the world. They played alongside Venus, sharing Grand Slam finals and winning big. Serena has already started winning a little more often. Now she’s the strongest woman in world tennis, and that’s cool.

20 years later, I have already achieved some success in my career, and Serena is still playing and participating in the US Open for the last time. Every time I see her in person, she gives off a special legendary energy that’s hard to live with because almost everyone is a fan of her. She is already gone and will leave behind a legendary legacy. I’m sure centuries later we’ll still be talking about Serena Williams,” journalist Mario Boccardi quoted Medvedev on his Twitter page.

Williams, 40, will compete in the US Open, which runs from August 29 to September 11. The 23-time Grand Slam winner has announced she will be retiring after the US Open.
