sport.Fr/Tennis. Tunisia’s tenth-largest racket Ons Jaber has criticized Wimbledon organizers’ decision to bar tennis players from Russia and Belarus from taking part in the competition.
Recall that the organizers of Wimbledon have decided not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions in 2022 as part of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine.
“I understand what the Ukrainian people are going through. But over the years, I was told never to mix sports and politics. There were similar situations, especially in 2020 at the Billie Jean King Cup where we were supposed to face Israel. There is one thing I hate in this world. It’s politics,” Jaber said quoting Arab News.
Jaber is the tenth racket in the world in the WTA rankings. In addition, the tennis player is the first representative of Tunisia, which managed to reach the final of the WTA competition (Moscow-2018).
