Cause – shoulder injury
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk withdrew from the tournament WTA 250 in Canadian Granby before the semi-final match with Australian Daria Saville. The Ukrainian reported a shoulder injury.
Earlier in the quarterfinals, Marta defeated Rebecca Marino from Canada. The fight lasted an hour and a half, the Ukrainian was able to break the opponent’s resistance in three sets.
Kostyuk reached the semi-finals of the WTA tournament for the first time this season. Earlier in the tournament, she beat the Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, and then passed the 17-year-old Canadian Marina Stakusic.
Recall that Kostyuk will perform in the main draw of the US Open. Already on August 30, she will have a duel against the Egyptian Mayar Sherif. Three more Ukrainians (Angelina Kalinina, Dayana Yastremska and Lesya Tsurenko) will also start the tournament in the main draw, Daria Snigur will try to break through the qualifying sieve.
