Athletistic/Tennis. German tennis player Andrea Petkovic has announced her retirement after the upcoming US Open.
“I always leave open the possibility of having a tournament in Europe which will be closer to my family and friends, but in general it is my last tournament,” Sportschau said quoting Petkovic.
Petkovic has won seven WTA-level singles trophies. The highest position in the WTA rankings is ninth (in 2011).
On August 30, Petkovic will meet Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic in the first round of the 2022 US Open, which will be held from August 29 to September 11.
