Rafael Nadal during the US Open tennis second round match against the Italian Fabio Fognini broke his nose with a racket, reports Het Nieuwsblad with reference to Belga.
During one of the draws, Nadal tried to win the ball back, but the racket hit the court and ricocheted off Rafael’s nose. The 36-year-old Spaniard called a doctor who stopped the bleeding and also applied a bandage.
“At first I was dizzy and it hurt a bit. It happened to me with a golf club, but not with my racquet,” Nadal said after the match.
Nadal won the match in four sets – 2:6, 6:4, 6:2, 6:1. In the third round, the third racket in the world will meet the Frenchman Richard Gasquet.
