‘It was shameful’ – commentator about Kyrios spitting and swearing at his team

Australian tennis player Nick Kirios received a warning for spitting on his team at the US Open and was slammed by a TV commentator, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The Australian beat Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi 7:6 (7:3), 6:4, 4:6, 6:4.

Kyrios also received a warning for using profanity when the victim of his rage was someone the Aussie felt was not supportive enough, and on video he is seen spitting at a member of his team.

Kirios shouted, “You are sleeping, brother! Go home or support me brother! You are not a spectator!

“Oh no, this is terrible behavior, terrible, terrible behavior from Kyrios,” said commentator Matt Chilton. I’m a huge fan of his, but that was unsportsmanlike behavior. Sometimes it just goes too far. He was filmed, he spat in the direction of his team and it was shameful,” the Eurosport commentator said.

“I’m someone who has had a hard time concentrating on my career, I really try to play with a cool head and not pay attention to certain specific situations. It’s difficult because there are a lot of distractions,” Kyrios said. “Obviously people say different things. I have to be very careful what I say these days.

The Australian’s next opponent will be American Jeffrey-John Wolfe.
