australian nick Kirios commented on the winning match with Russian Daniil Medvedev in the 4th round of the US Open.
World ranking leader Medvedev lost to the Australian in four games – 6:7, 6:3, 3:6, 2:6.
“It’s a big win. But I walk out and I’m relieved it’s over because every time I go there’s so much pressure on me. Lots of expectations and everything is so unpredictable. After such matches, I sit in the locker room and I’m proud of my performance, because there was still a time when I thought I couldn’t play anymore,” the ATP press service quoted Kirios as saying.
In the quarterfinals, Kirios will face another Russian, Karen Khachanov.
“I hope I can make it to the final, but I’m not thinking too far. Karen Khachanov is also a difficult opponent, we had some serious matches. But for now, I’m not thinking about it,” said added the Australian.
