Nadal says he doesn’t know when he’ll be back after US Open loss

Rafael Nadal admitted he didn’t know when he would return after American Francis Tiafoe beat him in the fourth round of the US Open.

For the Australian Open and French Open champion this season, it was the first loss at the Grand Slam tournaments in 2022.

I have to fix everything. I don’t know when I will be back. I will try to be mentally prepared. When I feel ready to compete again, I will be back. Now I have to go home, I have more important things to do than tennis,” Nadal said in a press conference after the game against Tiafoe.

In March, Nadal suffered a stress fracture in his ribs and required daily painkiller injections in his left leg during the French Open in June. During Wimbledon, the Spaniard injured his stomach.
