Schwentek: In the second set, physical training came to the fore. I’m glad I was able to be more precise when needed.

World number one beats Ons Jaber in US Open 2022 final

Polish tennis player Iga Schwentek commented on the victory US Open 2022.

“Physical preparation came to the fore in the second set. I’m glad I was able to pick up my pace to finish the plays and be more accurate when needed. We both played in the final at the highest level.”

“I wasn’t sure I was at the level of a Grand Slam title on hard. Especially at the US Open where the coverage is very fast. I definitely didn’t expect that.”

“I don’t know what I’m more happy with – the title of the US Open or the second victory at Roland Garros. Morally, Roland Garros was somewhat more difficult, because everyone was waiting for my victory. But in terms of tennis and fitness, the US Open is definitely harder.”

Recall that Schwentek became the winner of the US Open-2022, beating Ons Jaber from Tunisia in straight sets in the final.

21-year-old Iga won the third Grand Slam in her career – after Roland Garros in 2020 and 2022.
