Athletistic/Tennis. Serbian Novak Djokovic will retain first place in the ATP rankings following the results of the “Masters” on clay in Madrid (Spain).
Before that, a native of Belgrade easily qualified for the third round of the competition, beating Gael Monfils with a score of 6:3, 6:2.
Only Russian Daniil Medvedev, who missed the tournament, was able to beat Djokovic in the standings. The fact is that Djokovic didn’t play in Madrid in 2021, but on May 9 he should be deducted 500 points for 2019. Medvedev, on the other hand, was beaten in the third round last season, which means only 90 points will be deducted.
To keep his first place, the Serb needed to get those missing 90 points in the 2022 Madrid Masters, that is, to reach the third round of the competition, which he did.
