The Ukrainian avenged the defeat of Kostyuk in the first round
Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova, playing under a neutral flag, in the second round of the tournament WTA 250 in Slovenian Portorož.
The hard fight lasted almost two and a half hours. In the first set, the Ukrainian lost four games in a row, and her opponent was preparing to serve for the game. However, Tsurenko “under zero” took Alexandrova’s serve, and, having won the next three games, she took the first set.
The swing continued in the second game. At first, Tsurenko confidently took the lead, but lost five games in a row. Again, Alexandrova filed for the set, and again the Ukrainian took the serve dry from her. The match went to a tie-break, where Tsurenko snatched the victory from the third match-ball.
Lesya thus avenged Marta Kostyuk. In the first round of the tournament in Portoroz, the Ukrainian lost to the fifth seed in three sets.
In the quarterfinals, Tsurenko will meet the winner of the fight Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) – Tereza Martintsova (Czech Republic).
