Ukrainian lost advantage in the decisive set
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk eliminated in the first round of the series tournament WTA 250 in Slovenian Portorož. Our athlete lost in three sets to the fifth seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, who competes under a neutral flag.
The tense duel lasted almost three hours. In the first game, the Ukrainian had three set points, but lost in a tie-break.
In the second game, Kostyuk quickly seized the advantage, but in the end she began to make mistakes. Nevertheless, the victory remained with the Ukrainian.
Kostyuk made a break, but failed to serve for the match, losing three games in a row, two of which were on her own serve. Aleksandrova advanced to the second round.
Two more Ukrainians compete at the tournament in Portoroz. Dayana Yastremskaya will play with the first seeded Briton Emma Raducanu, and Lesya Tsurenko will meet with Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse.
