US Open raises $2 million in aid to Ukraine

Charity match before the tournament raised more than a million

Organizers US Open were able to collect $2 million during the tournament, which will go to help victims of the war in Ukraine.

Fundraising began with the Week of fans before the main tournament, during which they held a charity match Tennis Plays for Peace. During the match, the organizers raised $1.2 million.

The event was attended by Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jessica Pegula, Iga Sventek and other representatives of world tennis. Serhiy Stakhovsky, Olga Savchuk, Dayana Yastremskaya, Katarina Zavatskaya and Daria Snigur were among the Ukrainian athletes on the court in the USA.

All funds raised during the tournament will be donated to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund charity platform and will go to humanitarian support for Ukraine.
