Tursunov told how Radukan explained the frequent change of coaches

Russian coach Dmitry Tursunov told how the British tennis player Emma Radukanu explained the frequent change of coaches with whom she collaborates.

After Wimbledon 2021, Radukanu parted ways with Nigel Sears and joined Andrew Richardson, whose services she also turned down, despite winning the US Open. Richardson was replaced in November by Torben Beltz, whose cooperation ended in April this year. And in July, Tursunov became the coach of the British.

“I liked her explanation that she couldn’t find someone she was actually in touch with, and I respect that. At the end of the day, you need a coach who understands who you are. It’s easier to make contact, and some things don’t need to be explained… It helps to have a good relationship with someone, and that explanation is clear to me,” Tursunov said, quoted by Tennisworldusa.

Previously, Tursunov worked with Belarusian Arina Sobolenko and Estonian Anette Kontaveit. When asked if he was afraid of being fired by Radukan, Tursunov replied in the negative.

I’ve already been fired twice, I’m not afraid of being fired. After all, I know I have information to provide, and if a player needs that information, I’m here. If she fires me tomorrow, it’s her decision. I may not like it, I may not be okay with it, but I can survive,” the coach said.
