Executive Director of the Russian Biathlon Union (RUB) Alexander Pak told that the races at the third stage of the Russian Cup in Tyumen, canceled due to frost, will not be postponed to another stage.
Earlier on Wednesday it became known that the stage of the Russian Cup in Tyumen was canceled due to frost. After that, the group of coach Mikhail Shachilov decided to organize a control training instead of the race.
– Of course, it’s a shame that everything was canceled today. It’s a shame that the entire stadium was prepared quite strictly here. The local organizing committee, the judges and we were getting ready. But for all of us, the health of athletes is above all important. It’s cold, my face is frozen. At the top of the course, especially when you go down, it’s really hard.
— There is no decision on the Commonwealth Cup stage in Ufa?
— So far, the forecasts there are very good. Tuesday will be the last day of frost, followed by a warm-up. They say that on Sunday it will be zero (degrees).
— Can these canceled competitions take place after the Ufa stage?
— The fact is that the calendar is already scheduled. All regions know their calendar. It’s hard to find funds somewhere to get the athletes out now. Rich areas can probably afford it. Our task is to ensure that all athletes from all regions are in the same conditions. Plus, it’s the end of the budget year, so we won’t be hosting (the canceled races).
— That is to say that the stage was canceled and not postponed?
“Yes, we didn’t worry about the transfer,” Pak told .
