Argentine left-back Francisco Ortega has signed for River Plate after three years with Greek club Olympiacos, announcing his departure in a social media message. The 27-year-old defender joined the team in 2023 and now returns to his homeland to continue his career in Argentina.

Farewell message

In his farewell message, Ortega said the time had come to say goodbye after three years at the club. He noted that they shared incredible moments together, including winning four titles in three years and lifting the most important trophy in the history of the club.

Ortega thanked everyone at Olympiacos who contributes to making the club better every day. He expressed gratitude to the coaching staff and teammates for everything they experienced together, as well as the fans who always accompanied and encouraged the squad.

The defender added that he takes beautiful memories, friendships, and a piece of himself from his time in Greece. He wished the club the best and said he would continue to support Olympiacos as a fan from the other side of the world.
