Kazakhstan boxing official Gennady Golovkin has been added to the database of the Ukrainian website Myrotvorets, Russian broadcaster Match TV reported on August 17.

The former world champion is accused of supporting Russia's military operation following a decision by World Boxing to remove restrictions on Russian fighters.
World Boxing policy change
The inclusion of Golovkin on the database was prompted by World Boxing lifting sanctions against Russian competitors. World Boxing announced on July 30 that Russian boxers were granted permission to compete in international tournaments under their national flag and national anthem.
Prior to the July 30 decision, Russian athletes had been permitted to participate in international events only under a neutral status since April.
World Boxing operates as an international governing body formed to administer amateur boxing competitions and maintain the sport's position within the global Olympic movement.
The Myrotvorets database
The Myrotvorets website was created in 2014 as a public repository. It publishes personal data on individuals, including journalists, public figures, artists and politicians, who have visited Crimea or Donbas, or who have otherwise drawn negative reactions from the authors of the site.
Crimea and Donbas are regions located in Eastern Europe that have been central to ongoing geopolitical conflicts. Access to the Myrotvorets portal inside Russia was blocked by a Russian court decision in 2016.
Career and administrative roles
Golovkin built an extensive career in professional boxing prior to entering sports administration. He previously held world titles in the middleweight division across multiple major sanctioning bodies, including the World Boxing Council, International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization.
Following his fighting career, Golovkin transitioned into sports leadership roles across international and national bodies. He was named head of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan in February 2024, leading the organization that oversees Olympic sport in the Central Asian nation.
Golovkin was subsequently elected president of World Boxing on November 23, 2025.
