Security guards separated Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron on Friday after a hostile forehead-to-forehead clash at the final weigh-in in Birmingham.
The two super-welterweight boxers locked foreheads on stage and traded verbal insults before Saturday's unified world title fight. Cameron vowed to smash her opponent's head in during the outburst, which shattered what had previously been an amicable build-up.
American fighter Mayer, who holds the WBA and WBC titles, weighed in at 148 pounds. The weight was three pounds lighter than her previous bout against Mary Spencer in October 2025. WBO champion Cameron stepped onto the scales at 147.6 pounds for her second contest at super-welterweight following an April victory over Michaela Kotaskova.
The main event fight stands among the most high-profile contests in women's boxing. Mayer has previously reigned as a world champion across three weight divisions. Cameron, a two-weight world champion, remains the only boxer to defeat Irish icon Katie Taylor in professional competition.
Security steps in during stage confrontation
The altercation erupted unexpectedly after contact was made in the center of the stage. Cameron appeared irritated by remarks from her rival, prompting security personnel to intervene immediately between the fighters.
Cameron voiced her anger after being pulled back by security. "She isn't intimating me, all that yapping, getting in my face, watch now, watch tomorrow," Cameron said. "You're deluded. Shut your mouth, you are so deluded. I didn't say a word, you are making things up because you don't believe in yourself. You're going to get humbled."
Cameron finished her outburst with a direct threat. "I'm gonna smash her f****** head in now," she said.
Mayer responded with surprise at the sudden escalation from her rival. "She said I'm too slow, but there is no way Chantelle Cameron is faster than me," Mayer said. "I didn't know this Chantelle Cameron existed, I like it."
Mayer also indicated that reproducing her training camp form could result in a knockout victory, despite pundits framing the bout as a close contest.
Undercard clashes and weight checks
Tensions also flared during the weigh-in for the co-main event between Caroline Dubois and Amelia Moore. The lightweight rivals exchanged aggressive insults during another animated face-off ahead of their world title bout.
Dubois, the WBC and WBO lightweight world champion, weighed in at 134.8 pounds before delivering a final warning to her challenger. "She knows I'm coming to take her head off. Welcome to my world," Dubois said.
Moore scaled 134.4 pounds, coming in slightly lighter than the champion. The undefeated American challenger, who holds a 4-0 professional record, responded: "This is my world. I've been waiting my whole life for this point, my whole life."
Dubois could eventually face WBO, WBA and IBF super-featherweight world champion Alycia Baumgardner, who is stepping into the lightweight division to face Elif Nur Turhan on November 8. Baumgardner previously questioned Mayer at a press conference during the event build-up.

Elsewhere on the card, Terri Harper weighed in at 137.8 pounds as she prepares for her first bout since her April loss to Dubois. Harper takes on Houston native Miranda Reyes, a former opponent of Dubois who weighed in at 136.6 pounds.
Coventry boxer Jessica Barry scaled 125.6 pounds ahead of her bout against America's Reina Tellez, who also weighed 125.6 pounds. Tellez previously stepped in to face Amanda Serrano on 15 days' notice earlier in 2026.
Tysie Gallagher weighed in at 121.6 pounds ahead of her debut under the Most Valuable Promotions banner. She faces Chicago native Brandi Robinson, who also tipped the scales at 121.6 pounds.
The event takes place in Birmingham, with the main card broadcasting live on Sky Sports from 7pm on Saturday.
