His fight with Emiliano Marsili has been cancelled.
European EBU and International WBO lightweight champion Denis Berinchyk refused to defend the EBU belt.
On June 24, the Ukrainian was supposed to fight with the Italian 46-year-old boxer Emiliano Marsili. However, Berinchyk relinquished the title and vacated the EBU belt.
Promoter Alexander Krasyuk said that Berinchyk’s next fight is scheduled for May 27. The bout was scheduled to take place on the undercard of the Lopez-Conlan show for the IBF Featherweight belt in Belfast. Soon, the coach of the Ukrainian Egor Golub announced that Berinchyk would hold his next fight in the summer.
In his last fight, the Ukrainian defeated EBU title holder Frenchman Ivan Mendy in a unification bout. After this victory, Denis signed a contract with Frank Warren’s promotional company.
According to Warren himself, he was pleased with the fight between Berinchyk and Mendy and announced the Ukrainian boxer’s possible entry into the fight for the world title as early as 2023.
