On its official website, the Independent Athletics Authority (IAU) published information about the disqualification of three Russian athletes based on data obtained from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory (LIMS) database and results of a survey conducted by Richard McLaren.
According to this information, shot putter Soslan Tsirikhov, all-rounder Vasily Kharlamov and runner Roman Semakin were disqualified. They are accused of using or attempting to use prohibited substances or methods.
As a result, Kharlamov received a four-year disqualification, and Semakin and Tsirikhov were disqualified for two years. Disqualifications began on May 25, 2023. All of their results have been voided.
Soslan Tsirikhov, a 38-year-old athlete, became a 2009 Universiade gold medalist and a 2011 Universiade silver medalist. He also participated in the 2012 Olympics and ended his sports career in 2017 .
Vasily Kharlamov, a 37-year-old athlete, became the champion of the 2011 Universiade in Shenzhen. He ended his career in 2015.
