Belarusian cyclist Artem Zaytsev explained to why he is competing in the same team sprint with the Russians.
Zaitsev in the team sprint, along with Russians Pavel Yakushevsky and Alexander Dubchenko, broke the Russian record at the Moscow Grand Prix in Krylatskoye. They rode with a score of 57.847 seconds.
– Why not? The coaches agreed with each other. It’s an extra day of racing.
— You have some pretty solid team sprint partners. What is your strength?
Probably in versatility. I like to ride and the second position, which I have always raced in my national team. Maybe it gives us a chance to face the Moscow team.
– Did you break both the Russian record and the Belarus record today?
– Well, you could say that. Two records were broken at once (laughs). Moreover, the previous record was set by runners such as Denis Dmitriev, for example. And you think you are already pulling yourself to such a high result,” Zaitsev told .
