Athletistic/Figure Skating. Lithuanian Skating Union President Vytautas Jasutis expressed the opinion that there should be no participants from Russia and Belarus in the upcoming European Figure Skating Championships in Kaunas in 2024.

The question of the possible return of Russian and Belarusian figure skaters to competition has been discussed by the International Skating Union (ISU), but the decision has been postponed.

“At the ISU meeting, the first issue was the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee on the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus. The ISU voted unanimously against this. They continue to monitor the situation. I think there is a certain pressure as other federations show a different example. However, one of the strongest countries in this sport remains on the sidelines. This is hurting the budget of the International Skating Union and also reduces the level of individual disciplines. But we have no desire to return them. We welcome this decision”, quotes Yasutis edition 15min.
