The Ukrainian women’s team lost to Serbia in the opening match of the Nations League

The Ukrainians won the first half, but did not maintain the winning score

Ukraine women’s national football team lost to the team Serbia in the match of the 1st round of Group 3 Division B League of Nations. The fight took place in the Polish city of Starogard-Gdanski.

Vladimir Pyatenko’s team took the lead in the middle of the first half through the efforts of Olga Ovdiychuk. However, the Ukrainians failed to maintain the winning score.

Serbia came back after the break thanks to a goal from Chelsea midfielder Jelena Cankovic. The victory for the Serbs was brought by a precise strike from Nevena Damjanovic in the 79th minute.

In the next round on September 26, Ukraine will meet Poland. Also, within Group 3, Pyatenko’s team will have to play with Greece.

The four group winners from Division B will advance to the elite division. At the same time, participants in the play-off matches for promotion/relegation will be determined before qualifying for Euro 2025.

The Nations League group stage will take place from September 20 to December 5. The final stage and play-offs are scheduled from February 21 to 28, 2024.
