Obolon coach – about the match with Veres
Head coach Obolon Valery Ivashchenko summed up the match with Veres (0:0) in the 8th round Ukrainian Premier League.
“We really wanted to score. We started this match aggressively. They attacked a lot. But to win, you need to score. There were moments. We failed to implement them. It depends on the qualifications of the players. World-class footballers are so expensive because they score from a half-turn,” Ivashchenko said.
“And we are gaining experience. We tried, we attacked, but we couldn’t score. Igor Krasnopir had several good chances before the break. They replaced him because the game in front wasn’t going well, he couldn’t take advantage of his chances – something needed to be changed.”
“At the start of the second half of the game we could have conceded. We played unconcentrated, and somewhere the opponent took the initiative. Then we rebuilt and leveled the game again. But the ball didn’t go into the goal any further. Having created so much, I would like to win. There are draws – like a victory, but this is a draw, which left a negative aftertaste.”
Obolon scored 6 points and rose to 12th place in the UPL. On September 27, Ivashchenko’s team will host Dynamo in the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup.
