Ivan Petkov’s team beat the Czech Republic
Ukrainian women’s volleyball team won her first victory in the qualifying tournament for Olympic Games 2024having beaten Czech Republic – 3:1.
Ivan Petkov’s team had an unsuccessful first set, losing by 13 points. But they managed to pull themselves together and snatch victory in the second with a minimal advantage. Then the blue-yellows confidently played the third set, and defeated their opponents in the fourth with a margin of +10 points.
The Ukrainian team scored the first three points and is in seventh place in Group A. The Czech Republic remained in sixth place with five points. The leaders in the group are Serbia, the Netherlands and the Dominican Republic.
Let us remind you that our national team was in the same group with the teams of China, Canada, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the Netherlands and Serbia. All matches of this octet take place in China from September 16 to 24. Only the top two teams from the group will qualify for the Olympics in Paris. Let us note that the blue-yellows stopped the fight for the Olympic license ahead of schedule.
In the current qualification, the Ukrainian team suffered defeats from the teams of China, Serbia, the Dominican Republic and the Netherlands with the same score of 0:3, and then lost to Canada (1:3). In the last qualifying match for the 2024 Olympics, the Ukrainians will play against Mexico on September 24.
