Neuer played his 500th match for Bayern

In the new century, only Müller and Lahm played more for the club than him

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in the match of the 17th round of the Bundesliga against Hoffenheim (3:0) played 500th official match for Bavaria.

Thus, the 37-year-old footballer caught up with another club legend, Bastian Schweinsteiger. In the list of club guards of the 21st century, Manuel is second only to Philipp Lahm (517) and Thomas Müller (685).

Neuer did not spend his entire career in Bayern. From 2005 to 2011, he played for the Schalke first team, where he played more than two hundred matches. In December 2023, the goalkeeper played his 700th match at the professional club level. In addition, he has 117 matches in goal for the German national team (with which he won the 2014 World Cup).

The 37-year-old goalkeeper’s titles include six German Cups and 11 Bundesliga titles. Neuer also triumphed twice in the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and won the Club World Cup twice.

Bayern qualified for the Champions League playoffs from first place in Quartet A. In the Bundesliga, Neuer’s team is in second place, one point behind Bayer.
