Gunners make way for Riccardo Calafiori
Arsenal ready to listen to proposals for Ukrainian defender To Alexander Zinchenko.
The imminent arrival of Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori is likely to relieve some pressure on the Gunners’ squad, with Arsenal prepared to let Zinchenko and his rival, Poland’s Jakub Kiewer, go. Kieran Tierney’s fate is also uncertain.
The Ukrainian’s current contract with Arsenal runs until 2026. It was previously reported that the Gunners were ready to sell Alexander this summer.
The 27-year-old Ukrainian made 35 appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring one goal and providing two assists. Zinchenko missed a number of games due to injuries, after which he lost his place in the Gunners’ starting lineup.
In July, Zinchenko changed his agent. The Ukrainian signed a contract with the Unique Football Agency. At the same time, the Ukrainian went on a tour of the USA with Arsenal.
Arsenal will play three friendlies in the US against Bournemouth (July 25), Manchester United (July 28) and Liverpool (August 1).
Arsenal will officially open the new season on August 17, when they host Wolverhampton in the opening round of the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s team finished the 2023/24 championship in second place.
