Norris wins Singapore Grand Prix qualifying, Verstappen takes second

Both Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc performed poorly in the third segment

Pilot McLaren Lando Norris won the qualification Singapore Grand Prix in the championship Formula 1.

The Briton posted a final lap time of 1:29.525, 0.2 seconds ahead of reigning world champion Max Verstappen. The second starting row of the grid was made up of Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Next were Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Nico Hulkenberg (Haas), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Yuki Tsunoda (RB), Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz (both Ferrari).

The final segment of qualifying was a disaster for the Scuderia drivers. Sainz crashed into the barriers before completing a fast lap. His accident forced the organisers to put out the red flags to remove the car from the track. After qualifying resumed, Leclerc made a mistake in one of the corners, leaving the track completely, which is why his fast lap was cancelled.

Verstappen leads the world championship standings by 59 points over Norris. The Singapore Grand Prix will be held on Sunday, September 22. The start is at 15:00 Kyiv time.
