Birch: We must play, otherwise we will remain on the sidelines of world football

Honorary President of Dnipro-1 believes that attention should be paid to youth football

Honorary President SC Dnepr-1 Yuri Bereza believes that football tournaments should continue to be held in Ukraine even during the war. Otherwise, the country runs the risk of falling far behind progress in world football.

“If we don’t want to stay on the sidelines of world football and then after a victory to restore positions for a long time, we need to play. Football trends are fleeting, and you need to keep up with progress.”

“What the absence from the football arena can turn into, we will see on the example of Russian freaks – they will not overcome the consequences of their removal for at least 10 years. The absence of international matches is especially affected, so I am a supporter of playing.”

“At the same time, I am convinced that special attention should be paid to youth football. Probably the current generation of players will lose some opportunities, so we have to deal with the prospects of young people.”

Earlier, Bereza explained why he did not support the creation of a single TV pool in the UPL. The president of Dnipro-1 did not see a mechanism for how his team’s matches could be broadcast for free on the territory of Ukraine.

SC Dnipro-1 has won all three opening matches in the UPL and is in third place. In the next match, Dnipro will play against PFC Lviv on October 1.
