The senior coach of the Ukrainian women’s team assessed the form of his players and assured that all biathletes will be ready for the pursuit race
Senior coach Ukrainian women’s biathlon team Nikolay Zots commented on the performance of his players in the sprint at the third stage World Cup in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
“Of course, I’m pleased with the result. Everything happened in stages. At this stage, this is a big psychological moment for girls to grow further. A significant threshold to gain confidence, so that they understand that they are the same as other athletes, they can fight.”
“I said that we need to get through these times. We will have a normal takeoff, like today’s team. There will be more falls. We are now on the first path rising, these bright flashes, we can do something. And then already [нужно] repeat this so that there is stability. It won’t exist yet—that time needs to pass. But what they are for themselves [получили]is a significant step forward.”
“I think to show my best condition for now [Дмитренко] is on the rise. This is not to say that she is in perfect shape. I have recovered from the illness, but getting into shape is still not quite in ideal condition. Just like Julia Jima after the gathering in Obertillias. She, I think, has not done the work to reach her maximum capabilities. Like all girls, there is still progress, there is room to grow.”
“Will all biathletes be ready for the pursuit race? Of course, if everyone is healthy. Don’t run from 17th or 27th place [персьют]? There can’t even be any talk.”
Let us remind you that in the women’s sprint race, all four Ukrainians finished within the top 30. The best results were shown by Anastasia Merkushina and Irina Petrenko, who were in 16th and 17th positions, respectively. Yulia Jima and Kristina Dmitrenko came in the third ten.
Tomorrow, December 15, the men’s sprint will take place in Lenzerheide. Pursuit races will take place on Saturday, and mass starts on Sunday.
