Dynamo Moscow part ways with midfielder Luka Gagnidze

Dynamo Moscow and Georgian midfielder Luka Gagnidze have terminated their contract by mutual agreement.

The player had been tied to the Russian club on a contract that was scheduled to run until June 30, 2027, before both parties agreed to end the arrangement ahead of schedule.

News of the decision was reported by Match TV, which cited an official statement released by the press service of the Moscow club.

Gagnidze last appeared on the pitch in a Russian Premier League match for the Moscow team in September 2024. In its official statement, the press service of Dynamo thanked Gagnidze for the time he spent at the club and wished him success in his future career.

Player profile and club background

Dynamo Moscow, often referred to by their traditional nickname the White-Blues, are one of the oldest and most historic football clubs in Russia. Based in the capital city of Moscow, the team competes in the Russian Premier League, which is the top tier of professional association football in the country.

Gagnidze is a central midfielder from Georgia who joined the Moscow club to strengthen their squad options in domestic competition. The player represented his country at youth international level before moving to Russian football, but his first-team involvement with Dynamo ceased after his final league outing in September 2024.

In professional sports, a contract termination by mutual consent enables both a club and a player to end an existing agreement prior to its specified end date. The resolution frees the player to seek new playing opportunities as a free agent without waiting for formal transfer windows.

The report confirming the midfielder's departure was carried by Match TV, a major Russian sports broadcasting network headquartered in Moscow that covers news across the Russian Premier League and international athletics.

Upcoming match against Rubin Kazan

Dynamo Moscow will turn their focus to their next competitive fixture on Sunday, when they travel for an away match against Rubin Kazan.

Rubin Kazan are based in Kazan, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan in western Russia. Like Dynamo, Rubin Kazan compete in the top division of Russian football, having previously won the Russian Premier League championship title twice in their history.

Sunday's fixture in Kazan will be Dynamo's first game following the formal announcement of Gagnidze's departure from the club roster.
