Maxim Parshin, deputy minister of digital development, telecommunications and mass media, has been elected president of the Sports Programming Federation of Russia, according to the website of the Ministry of Digital Development.
Russian Deputy Sports Minister Odes Baysultanov, who oversees high-tech sports in the department, was elected chairman of the Federation’s board of directors.
— My colleagues from the Ministry of Sports of Russia and I are convinced that, firstly, sports programming can become a new national intellectual sport. Second, one of the most massive, since it is accessible to all participants, regardless of age, physical and financial abilities. And, finally, the new sport has a direct connection with professional activity – the participants and winners of the competitions will occupy leading positions in IT companies and develop the IT industry,” Parshin said.
The Sports Programming Federation was created in the summer of 2022. Today, the sports programming federation comprises 43 regional branches. Among the immediate plans are the holding of regional qualifying competitions and the Russian Sports Programming Championship in an open format in the first half of 2023 with the invitation of athletes from foreign countries.
