Sims 4 allows you to customize pronouns
EA and Maxis have released a new update on The Sims 4, in a new step to make the most iconic life simulation game in industry history a more inclusive place. It is by a new feature that will give players the ability to customize pronouns of the Sims they created.
This is explained by EA in its official statement:
“Integration has been a core value of The Sims for over 22 years, and the team believes that diversity drives change and community. It’s important to the development team to get the pronouns right, and they worked at Close collaboration with It Gets Better Project and GLAAD to better understand the use and effect of pronouns, and where binary gender representations are present in The Sims 4.
Starting today, fans will experience the first version of the update with customizable pronouns in the English version of the game. This update is just one step in the direction of a more inclusive experience for Simmers, and the team aims to update and improve this feature over time to support more languages. “
How to customize pronouns in The Sims 4
When entering Create Sim, you need to select ‘Hello, my name and my pronouns are …’. After that, the name input screen will open. Next to the name fields you will find a section for pronouns and, for now, in this first version of the feature it will only be available in English, and the options are:
- They (this is the pronoun used in English for non -binary genders)
- He/Her
- He/She
- Personalized
But the last alternative is personalize the pronoun, object that allows the use of pronouns not included as an option; for which it is necessary to introduce the subjective, objective, dependent possessive, independent possessive and reflexive forms of the pronouns to be used. It looks complicated, but the on -screen examples help make it simpler.
