President of the All-Russian Federation of Physical Sports, 2020 Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Nikita Nagorny talked about how his sporting experience helps him in his social activities.
– Everything is closely linked. One of my important goals at this point is to prove that sport should stay out of politics. Many people today say the opposite, but I’m sure it’s not true. With the games of the future, we want to show that the Olympics were not created for that. This sport should be accessible to everyone, regardless of your country of origin or passport. We seem to be saying: guys, you can improve and show everything you’ve been training for all your life. You can’t just take away what you have with a single click,” quotes RT Nagorny.
Russian athletes have been suspended from international competitions under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
Nagorny is a Tokyo 2020 Games champion, three-time world champion and multiple European champion in artistic gymnastics.
