More than one or two people have already received the title of candidate master of sports in eSports, Igor Fridovsky, head of the public relations department of the Russian Computer Sports Federation, told .

Previously, the media reported that Sergei Strog Platov, winner of last year’s tournament in Ufa in the Tekken 7 discipline, became the first Russian candidate for the master of sports in e-sports.

“We’re certainly happy that esports news is getting attention, but in this case everyone was the victim of misquotes. Sergey Strog Platov really became a candidate for the Master of Sports, and in the original source he became the first candidate for the Master of Sports in eSports from the Leningrad region. In fact, sports titles have been awarded in eSports since 2018.

“But this news still resonates.” Are people not yet accustomed to this state of affairs?

— More than one or two people have received such sporting titles. On April 11, for example, in the Tomsk region alone, five KMS were issued.

—When will they stop reacting to such exotic news?

In 2023, during the unofficial Dota 2 World Championship, 19 out of 100 athletes were Russians, the highest figure of any country. And eSports is growing in Russia. Yes, this is perceived by a certain part of the population as “there are traditional sports and computer sports”, but an increasing number of people are interested in computer sports and take them more seriously, Fridovsky told .
