— The IOC Executive Committee today created the eSports Olympic Games. This resolution will be put to a vote for approval at the next session. The IOC has taken a big step forward to keep pace with the digital revolution, Bach told a news conference.
The IOC president declared in October that he had asked the organization’s specialized commission to study the possibility of creating e-sports Olympic games. According to Bach, virtual sports can help promote the values of excellence, friendship and respect that are at the heart of the Olympic Games.
