The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on its website that the first eSports Olympic Games will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2025.
The IOC and the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Saudi Arabia have entered into a 12-year partnership. It is worth noting that the eSports Olympic Games will be held regularly.
“We are very fortunate to be working with Saudi Arabia on the eSports Olympic Games as they have extensive experience in the field of eSports. These Games will benefit greatly from this experience,” said IOC President Thomas Bach. “Working with the Saudi NOC, we will also ensure that the Olympic values are respected, particularly in terms of the titles of the games on the programme, the promotion of gender equality and engagement with young audiences.”
Bach has already stressed that virtual sports can help promote the values of excellence, friendship and respect that are at the heart of the Olympic Games.
