“Future Games” chief Stolyarov says IOC doesn’t understand e-sports

The head of the “Future Games” project, Igor Stolyarov, said that the International Olympic Committee (IOC ) know nothing about the development of e-sports.

On Tuesday, at the 142nd session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Paris, the decision to create the eSports Olympic Games was approved. The first competition is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia in 2025.

— The IOC recognized e-sports as a sport, but since it doesn’t understand anything about it, it gave it to the Saudis for 12 years, so that the Saudis could develop it and return it.

I remember that we had such a case in Kineshma. Grandma Avdotya adopted the boy from a mathematics school, but she did not understand anything about the boy, so she sent him to a technical school to study as a combine harvester operator. The boy, of course, was neither Einstein nor Lobachevsky. But the combine harvester operator turned out to be a noble man: strong, abstinent, dressed in blue overalls and barefoot.

And why all? Yes, because raising an Einstein is a simple matter, but turning him into a combine harvester operator requires some effort,” Stolyarov wrote on the Telegram channel.

IOC President Thomas Bach has announced plans to create an eSports Olympics in October 2023. The IOC created an eSports Commission in September, chaired by French National Olympic Committee President David Lappartient.
