Piast Gliwice winger Ivan Lima has had his yellow card from Sunday's match against Legia Warsaw rescinded following a successful appeal to the League Commission.
The Polish club announced that the Disciplinary Committee upheld the opinion of the Referees' Committee of the Polish Football Association to cancel the caution. The decision leaves Lima with zero yellow cards for the Ekstraklasa season and clears him to feature in the upcoming fixture against Motor Lublin.
Referee Paweł Raczkowski originally booked Lima during the second half of the 1-1 draw against Legia. The Portuguese player had entered the game as a substitute for Jason Lokilo before making a late sliding tackle to clear the ball from Legia player Rafał Adamski, prompting the booking that Piast successfully contested.
Late equaliser and season form
The yellow card incident came during a dramatic conclusion at Piast, where the home side fought back after trailing 0-1 to a goal from Łukasz Zjawiński. Piast drew level in the fifth minute of stoppage time when Legia defender Rafał Augustyniak turned the ball into his own net, following a move where Lima provided the assist for Leandro Sanka's effort.
The point brought Piast Gliwice to four points from their opening five league matches under manager Daniel Myśliwiec. The Silesian side has recorded just one victory so far, a 4-3 win against Wisła Kraków, alongside a 0-2 loss to Zagłębie Lubin, a 0-3 defeat against Lech Poznań, and a 3-4 loss to Wieczysta Kraków.
Winger background and medical incident
Lima joined Piast in February 2026 from the reserve team of Portuguese giants Benfica. The winger has made seven appearances for the Polish club, contributing two assists, including a setup for Samuel Ntamack in the victory over Wisła Kraków.
Sunday's match was also marked by a severe medical emergency when a home supporter collapsed in the stands during the second half. On-site medical services performed resuscitation for nearly an hour before the supporter was taken to hospital.
Speaking after the match, Piast manager Myśliwiec said he hoped the situation would end well and turn out to be nothing more than a major scare, sending his best wishes for the supporter's health. Legia Warsaw coach Marek Papszun added that the game was played under the shadow of a tragedy, expressing hope that medical personnel managed to save the fan after a distressing situation on the sidelines.
